MOVEMENT ARTS
KALAMI roots healing in pleasurable, sensual relationship with diverse living ecologies.
Movement & dance allow us to connect to our bodies in relation to all the living.
As the planet continues to experience massive shifts, so too must we attune our vessels to the vibration of our rhythmic core, hips swinging with the drifting seas & winds.
My approach to movement arts centers elemental somatic journeying & sensual memory meditation as a healing practice to immerse in roots of our embodied experiences.

eMBODIED EXPLORATIONS
Past workshops - eBody (2019, Philippines), eMotion (2019, Philippines) & eRawtic (2019, NYC) - involved different somatic exercises for exploring the transformation of the human body through archives of embodied memory.
REVERENCE / REFERENCE
In Visayan Philippine cultures, the dancer-healer derives their embodied knowledge through channeled invocations & initiations through spirit in community - not through formal 'training' in the Western sense.
My arrival into a full-bodied dance practice evolved out of transoceanic migration, early teen years at electronic music festivals & raves, academic studies on cultural dance practices (my thesis in anthropology studied the balitao, the 'dance of the people' from Cebu, Philippines), an adult return to techno clubs, butoh dance studies & public performance collaborations Read more about my commitments in body studies in my bio.
At previous points, I have started certification trainings in somatic/movement therapy. Unfortunately, these trainings reminded me how white-led, settler-colonial frameworks to certify movement therapy ultimately reproduce troubling logics that co-opt from & erase authority of indigenous embodied knowledge.
Movement arts, for me, is lifetime journey of learning & healing in the rhythm of my communities.
